Arseless Chaps - the voice of TISM and a comedy icon’s ‘electrobanger’ project - has
delivered its self-titled debut album in three distinct versions.
WHO IS ARSELESS CHAPS?
Arseless Chaps is Damian Cowell, aka TISM front man Humphrey B. Flaubert, joining forces with Tony Martin, legend of The Late Show, Martin Molloy, Get This and Sizzletown. Their debut album combines Martin’s flair for storytelling with Cowell’s acerbic social observation over a collection of thumping electro dance grooves and unmistakeably TISM-esque hooks and melody.
WHEN IS ARSELESS CHAPS?
Arseless Chaps – the 10 track album version - hits the streaming services on November 7.
Arseless Chaps will also be released on CD with 2 bonus tracks.
Arseless Chaps - a remixed version with completely different cover art and 2 different bonus tracks - will be released on vinyl.
WHAT IS ARSELESS CHAPS?
Arseless Chaps features their debut track ‘Pong’: Martin’s story of the biggest thing to ever happen in the small New Zealand town of Thames, mashed up with Cowell’s musings on the Japanese concept of ‘mono no aware’.
There’s also:
- the bizarre (and completely fictional) tale of Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet’s
unwanted son
- what bad typography did to Clint Eastwood
- Martin’s brush with Melbourne’s most notorious underworld figure
- An acronym for our times: FOSAGAWI (full of shit and getting away with it)
By turns funny, angry, wistful and just plain silly, Arseless Chaps is full of naggingly catchy
songs about society’s darkest corners, death, loss and obsolete technology.
They call themselves ‘Daft Punk without the punk’, but the opposite is true - think more like a punked-up Sparks or Pet Shop Boys, or LCD Soundsystem with an Antipodean sense of humour, and you might be closer to the mark.
