It makes sense, doesn’t it? TISM’s debut single, “Defecate On My Face”, was expanded to a vinyl 7” + LP + CD box set, so naturally their 4 song ep from 1993 should be expanded into a 4LP set!
Withdrawn and reissued as “Censored Due To Legal Advice”, the beautiful original art has been restored for this very limited Artbox. “Australia The Lucky C***” has never looked or sounded so wonderful.
The ep itself failed miserably at the time of issue, failing to receive any radio play, and leaving a dispirited TISM wondering whether it was time for a reset.
Which is, to an extent, a shame. Whilst a fateful visit to the Big Day Out Boiler Room resulted in a rejuvenated band totally overhauling its sound and emerging with the award winning “Machiavelli And The Four Seasons”, there was a lot of incredibly good music emanating from the band throughout 1993. With Tokin’ becoming increasingly comfortable in front of the guitar amp, TISM worked up some of the wildest tunes of their career to that point, much of it eventually abandoned.
And then there’s the Atlantis sessions. “Australia – The World’s Suburb”, “The Ballad Of Paul Keating”, “Consumption Tax” (which would go on to form the middle 8 of one of TISM’s most successful singles, “Greg! The Stop Sign!!”), “Subliminal Satanic Message” and the Metropolis Studios track “State Schools Are Great Schools”, if added to the “Australia/ Censored” tracks, would have made a great album – so that’s how we’ve configured it here.
Add to that 3 full albums of mind-blowing outtakes, and you have a fantastic collection of music, housed in a striking box that will sit proudly alongside your “Wanker”, “Defecate”, and “Beasts” box sets.
